Clothes for 0 to 3 month old babies

Babies younger than 3 months old have weaker temperature regulation. They sweat and their sebaceous glands secrete more as well. If they wear improper clothes, potentially harmful substances could invade through the babies’ skins, which could increase the chance of infection. They need to wear light-colored cotton material that is warm, soft, and easily washable. In addition, cotton could absorb moisture very well. For summer, flower clothes are recommended. For other seasons, thin flannelette is an excellent choice. The clothing should be loose and simple that can be easy to wear and take off.

Clothes for 4 to 6 month old babies

After babies become 4 months old, they can kick and push with their feet. Some babies have even figured out how to roll from tummy to back at this point. For safety and babies’ comfort, you should avoid clothes that have large buttons, zippers, clasp, pins, etc. that can be swallowed by babies or damage babies’ skins. Cloth belts should be used instead of buttons. However, you must pay close attention to cloth belt’s position so that it does not get to the babies’ neck to avoid any strangulation.

Clothes for 7 to 9-month-old babies

7 to 9 month old babies start to crawl and learn to stand up; therefore, babies sweat more often and their clothes get dirty or damaged easily. In spring and fall, outerwear should be firm and breathable. You should avoid poly-cotton, poly-cotton blend, and the cloth such as pure polyester and acrylic fiber. Although they are bright colored, firm, easily washable, fast dry, they are not good when humid. In summer, if babies wear those kind of clothing, they could get hot very quick and produce even allergic reaction. You should choose pure cotton clothes.

Clothes for 10 to 12 month old babies

10 to 12-month-old babies can crawl and their range of motion expands more. Thus, you should consider those characteristics when choosing baby clothes.
