Open Your Hearts: Yoga for Anahata Chakra

In yoga, we emphasize opening and balancing the heart chakra, which is very important to feel our best. The seven main chakras are the energy system running along our Sussuma Nanadi, the blueprint of our physical body in our subtle body. The fourth chakra, Anahata, is recognized as the seat of love and sympathy, which translates as “unlocking”. Its essence is selflessness, transcending self, learning to release fear and forgive those who have hurt you.
The heart stores two main emotions: love and fear. When Anahata is out of balance, there may be physical problems in the chest, including problems in the heart and arteries, lungs and respiratory system. Sometimes heart disease or lung disease may result from emotional pain. The fear of pain is represented by the protective posture of round shoulders, which further closes the heart in our chest.
When we can’t forgive those who do us the most harm, emotional problems will appear. Our human experiences include love and pain. When you are hurt, part of the healing process is self-protection. But if we are not careful, fear will replace love, hinder our emotions and separate from our hearts. Take time to adjust your feelings and listen to your heart, which will help strengthen your connection with yourself and others.
It is not easy to release the resentment and hurt that hinder us from expressing our feelings. Courage and love are often used interchangeably-vulnerability is one of the greatest manifestations of strength. We are faced with countless choices every day, whether to act from a brave place or from a fearful place. In order to exert our strength, we need to take risks and become vulnerable.
By practicing opening and strengthening the heart and learning to breathe deeply, we created an open heart. Take time to strengthen your heart and forgive yourself, because what may prevent you from becoming the freest and most compassionate person.
